Mount Cole State Forest
Located one hours drive west of Ballarat, just off the Western Highway, Mount Cole State Forest is located 25 kilometres from the township of Beaufort and marks the gateway to the Pyrenees Wine District and the Grampians.
(Above) Camp Site Hut - Mount Lonarch [ google map location ]
This photo was taken on Mount Lonarch among the Hancock Pine Plantation, looking toward Mount Cole. The area is known for it's Sambar Deer population. I managed to snap one in this photo, if you look closely you can see it crossing the unsealed road on the right (Click on the image for a larger view),
(Below) Tree Ferns - Beeripmo Walk - Mount Cole State Forest
The following photos were all taken along part of the Beeripmo Walk. This area is about half way between two camp sites, Richards and Ditchfields. You can either hike up from Richards, or hike down from Ditchfields. I've included myself in these photos to provide a sense of scale, talk about 'Land of the Lost'.

Supreme Court Hotel - Maryborough
Maryborough, Victoria, Australia.
Night Photography
5th May 2010 - Maryborough, Victoria.
I took this shot when we stopped near the Maryborough Post Office.
My settings were an aperture of f/8, ISO was 100 and my 24mm lens was focused at its hyperfocal distance for f/8. I made 6 exposures in Raw format: 1/13 sec., 0.3 sec., 1.3 sec., 2.5 sec., 10 sec., 30 sec.
Post production involved blending the exposures with Photomatix, then switching into Photoshop for some colour correction and a little bit of sharpening. As a finishing touch, I chose a big soft brush and applied a vignette by burning around the edges.
I would like to thank Narelle, Adrian & Nola for organising and running the night, it was greatly appreciated. The locations that were chosen all made for good subjects.

PHOTOGRAPHY VS PAINTING
Hi everyone I recently saw in a local gallery, some really well executed paintings - all by the same artist. It caused me to explore in my mind what might be the differences between painting & photography. They struck me as very different. It caused me to ask what might be the boundaries separating these two domains of visual expression? I've written my wandering ponderings on these issues for a future article for "Aperture", but for now I'd like you to see coloured images of a key painting, as well as a photo I took out of the gallery door.
