Hastings Weekend

This was my first weekend away on a camera club activity. What was I expecting? To learn more about using my camera? Spending more time with members? Having a good time? Well this weekend ticked all of those boxes and more. I don't always get the time to just take my camera out and take photos when I am at home so going on the weekend meant that photography was my only priority.

I really appreciated the opportunity to mix with club members with more time than what we normally have at our club meeting nights. I hadn't really talked with Don and Jan before at our meetings so it was good to break the ice and see some of their photographs from their trips around Australia.

The weekend was really well organised (thanks for your work Adrian), we shared a three bedroom house and the costs were surprisingly cheap. We were also given a home base by the Hastings Yacht Club and their hospitality was warm and inviting.

Hastings proved to be an interesting place and this weekend in particular seemed to offer such a range of possibilities for shooting and such a contrast in photographic opportunities: seascapes, mangrove swamps, action shots at the carnival, people shots at the street parade, static displays of cars and boats in the park and night shots of the moonrise on Saturday night (pity I left my tripod at the caravan park).
