PHOTOGRAPHY VS PAINTING

Hi everyone I recently saw in a local gallery, some really well executed paintings - all by the same artist. It caused me to explore in my mind what might be the differences between painting & photography. They struck me as very different. It caused me to ask what might be the boundaries separating these two domains of visual expression? I've written my wandering ponderings on these issues for a future article for "Aperture", but for now I'd like you to see coloured images of a key painting, as well as a photo I took out of the gallery door.

Happy Photographers at Porcupine Village

All of the 17 Club members & visitors who made the trip out to Porcupine Village on Sunday March 14th had a wonderful time together in the company of like-minded photographic enthusiasts. The day was perfect, the lighting was great, & there were hundreds of excellent & interesting photographic opportunities in this historic gold-mining village of old original buildings filled with interesting memorabilia from a by-gone era - just a few kilometres from Maldon.
After thousands of potentially great photos were taken, we all went back to the restaurant & had a lovely lunch together & discussed amongst ourselves all the interesting ways we had photographed Porcupine village.
The old gold dredge is certainly worth seeing & photographing - particularly the reflections on the lake water where it is situated.
Everyone had a great day & thanked Nola for organising everything to make the day so special.
Some members ventured on to Maldon to take more photos or to enjoy a nice coffee in one of the many cafes.
All members who were unable to make the trip should try to find time to visit the village & take some photos at this historic township, as you wont be disappointed.
